Our First Lady
Lady Charity DavisLady Charity R. Davis is a native of North Carolina. Educated in North Carolina and Florida, Lady Davis was saved and nurtured through the ministries of her parents, Bishop Johnny Alston and the late Mother Geneva Alston of the Greater Ransom Way of the Cross Temple of Henderson, NC. Lady Davis credits much of her ministry skills to the loving teaching and example of her mother—a godly matriarch who found and developed a multitude of gifts in all of her twelve children.
Lady Davis began singing almost before she learned to talk. Her gift became very obvious as a teenager in high school when she was called upon to sing at a multitude of musical church, school and civic events. She was a featured artist annually, in the City of Henderson’s ColorFest.
As a young woman, she met and married, Reginald J. Davis. Their respective ministries complemented each other and she soon began traveling and ministering with her husband. Charity’s music ministry continued to flourish as God opened doors for her to share her gift, locally, across the country and around the world. Her credits include:
- 1997 winner of Vance County NAACP Image Award in Music & Arts
- Founding Director of the Orange High School Gospel Choir, 1999-2003. This group went on to receive state honors in North Carolina.
- Soloist on COOLJC recording project
- 2003—featured soloist with Andre Darby and the Voices of Conviction recording project
- 2005—recorded and produced first solo project entitled Genesis
- 2014—recorded and produced project entitled, Eclectic Praise
Additionally, Lady Davis has traveled either as a missionary/soloist or with her ministry group, Eclectic Praise throughout the United States and abroad in England, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Guyana and the Dominican Republic, St. Lucia and Trinidad.
Lady Davis’ service to Body of Christ is not limited to music. She is a sought after speaker, prayer warrior, counselor and leader. She has served as NC Metropolitan Diocese ABYPU Vice-President and President from 1999-2004. As First Lady of Refuge Temple Church, she has labored with her husband to build this ministry in a number of capacities. In January of 2011, she relinquished her responsibilities as Director of the Music and Arts Ministry of Refuge Temple although she continues to support the current leadership and the ministry. Beyond her titled positions, Lady Davis can be counted upon by her husband and congregation to do whatever it takes to make ministry run. In the acquisition and renovation of Refuge Temple’s new facility, Lady Davis was instrumental in the design and decoration of the sanctuary as well as many of the other areas of the church.
Professionally, Lady Davis worked as an elementary educator from 1997 to 2004 when she left her career in order to pursue music ministry full-time. She is an entrepreneur and owns her own business, Charity’s which specializes in men’s and women’s fashion accessories, wedding planning and special events decorations and designs.
Married to Pastor Reginald Davis for over twenty-five years, the Davis’ are the proud parents of Reginald Joel Davis, II and Geneva Andreal Davis.
